New Bus Route?

Officials with The Woodlands Township and the Woodlands Express bus service are considering a new route taking riders to eight stops along the Interstate 10 Energy Corridor during the work week as well as pondering potential Saturday service that would allow riders to enjoy entertainment options in the downtown Houston region.
During the Oct. 18 meeting of the township Board of Directors, board members heard a lengthy report from the township’s Transit Program director, Chris LaRue, who discussed several proposals including adding another departure run later in the morning from the Sterling Ridge park and ride lot, possibly adding bus service from The Woodlands to stops on Interstate-10 in the Energy Corridor and even a weekend schedule on Saturday that would take riders to various spots in the downtown Houston region such as the theater district, the museum district, sporting events and other places, like the Houston Zoo.

Woodlands Barbecue Festival

The Woodlands Barbecue Festival is bringing back the intoxicating scent of smoked meats to Town Green Park on Oct. 7.
Good barbecue is hard to come by, festival co-founder Stuart Lapp said.
Any fast food chain can slap pulled pork on a bun and call it a day, he explained, but true barbecue — made with the proper seasoning, attentive turning of meats and patient tending to the fire — is both an art and a craft.
Although it is one of the smaller festivals of Houston’s barbecue “season,” The Woodlands iteration is drawing 16 of the regions best-known barbecue joints — most of which are local mom-and-pop shops.
Tickets are still available for The Woodlands BBQ festival at www.thewoodlandsbbq.com. General admission is $50 and VIP tickets — which includes early admission, two drink tickets, a T-shirt and a tote bag — are $100.

When: 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7

Where: Town Green Park, The Woodlands
